Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina engaged to her ‘brother’
Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina is engaged to her adopted brother Nick Gordon, announcing their plans to wed on the new reality TV Show The Houstons: On Our Own.
According to E! News, a promo of the show reveals the moment when the couple tell their news to Bobbi’s family.
Not all of the family respond to the news well, with Bobbi’s uncle Gary stating: “No one knew that from a godson you would turn into a boyfriend. No one knew that.”
Whitney Houston, who died drowned in her hotel bath in February following complications from heart disease and cocaine use, took in Nick when he was ten years old. Nick’s mother had become unable to take care of him, while he father was in prison. Although he was never formally adopted, 22-year-old Nick and 19-year-old Bobbi lived as brother and sister. After the singer’s death, the two allegedly became closer and began a romance.
Bobbi Kristina is said to be estranged from her father, musician Bobbi Brown.
The Houstons: On Our Own is set to premiere October 24 and follows the Houston family, including Whitney’s sister-in-law and manager, Pat; her husband and Whitney’s brother Gary, as well as their daughter Rayah and Bobbi Christina.
The clip also sees Nick claiming: “The family has me out to be a bad person.”
Bobbi Kristina meanwhile is adamant that their love will last and says:
“They want to see us fail. They won’t.”
Nick subsequently tweeted a picture of the large sapphire engagement ring.
