TV3 PRESENTER Alan Hughes does not believe thieves targeted his home because of his social networking updates.

The 43-year-old and his partner, songwriter Karl Broderick, lost laptops, TVs and a silver Lexus car when criminals raided their north Dublin home while they holidayed abroad.

But Alan is doubtful it was due to his posts on Facebook.

And he said the couple are still trying to track down the missing items. “We got the car back but everything else is gone,” Alan told the Herald.

The married couple were in Barcelona at the time of the burglary last June, and feared thieves had been alerted to their absence by their Facebook updates.

“The gardai don't believe this is the case. They feel it was just opportunistic but everybody needs to be careful about the information they put on social media,” he added.

The Ireland AM host said they had holidayed abroad since the raid but left a friend looking after the home.
