Twink fined €1,000 for no car insurance

Twink

PANTO queen Twink has been fined €1,000 for driving without insurance.

The entertainer, whose real name is Adele King, appeared at Dublin District Court today on what is her 62nd birthday.

The charges related to an incident involving the entertainer at Ballymount in Dublin on January 6 last.

The court heard that she stopped her car to ask a garda for directions but while talking to her the officer noticed that she had no insurance.

Judge John Coughlan fined the mother of two with an address at Idrone House, Idrone Avenue, Knocklyon €1,000.

Twink was not in court when the case first came up last November as she was out of the country but she was present for today’s brief hearing. She wore a cream coat and black trousers.

Speaking after today’s hearing she said it was a stupid, idiotic mistake.

Her case first came before the courts last November but on that occasion Garda Shane Bonner, who is attached to the Traffic Corps based in Dublin Castle, told the judge that he was seeking an adjournment of the case.

The often controversial performer released her autobiography last year called Unzipped.

In it she revealed that she contemplated killing herself when she discovered that her husband, musician David Agnew, had had a child by another woman. She stayed with him despite the revelation.

The pair finally split up in 2004 after 21 years together.

She revealed that it took her months, if not years, to remove herself from that 'horrendous darkness' following the break-up.
