Lisa, who lost her mum to cancer in 2008, met Richard in a pub in Blackrock in Dublin 18 months ago, after coming out of a long-term relationship.

The TV3 presenter met Welsh Richard, who previously played for Blackrock and Leinster, in a pub and tells VIP magazine how he approached her and asked to buy her a cocktail, although he didn’t recognise her from TV.

What I love about him is that he doesn’t beat around the bush. He saw what he liked and went for that. I’m really content and feel cherish by Richard,” the 34-year-old reveals.

“When I met Richard I knew there was something very different about him. He’s a gentle giant with a warm soul: compassionate and extraordinarily thoughtful. “

“He has never ever let me down,” she tells the new issue of the magazine, declaring they are in love.

The couple hit it off immediately and Lisa admits things have moved very fast between the couple, with holidays in the Maldives, Tanzania and Paris, and plans to live together in the very near future.

Richard who comes from Wales, came to Ireland in 2003 to play professional rugby, and enjoyed playing alongside many Welsh stars including Gavin Henson, but injury has halted him playing on a full-time basis in recent times he reveals.

Lisa tells how her one regret is that Richard never got to meet her mum, who died after battling cancer for a number of years in 2008.

“I carry a framed photo of her everywhere in my suitcase,” she says. “I put her up everywhere I am staying. Angle it towards a nice view out the window and light a candle underneath it.”

The presenter feels her mum’s presence everyday inside herself:

“Every time I look in the mirror I realise I’m beginning to look more like her.

“Sometimes I feel as though mum may have sent Richard to me.”

The full interview appears in the new issue of VIP magazine, out now.
