The very odd couple: Pete Doherty and Macaulay Culkin move in together in Paris

Not since Kiefer Sutherland and Robert Downey Jr shared digs back in the Eighties has there been a more hellraising set of flatmates.
Pete Doherty and Macaulay Culkin are reportedly living together in Paris.
The odd couple met through New York singer Adam Green, after they both starred in Green’s iPhone-filmed, ketamine-inspired flick, The Wrong Ferarri (sic).
And it’s not even the first wild pal that Doherty (winner of “Celebrity Flatmate From Hell” in a 2007 poll) has set up home with; he previously moved in with the Pogues’ Shane MacGowan. Yikes.
It’s unclear exactly what went on, but MacGowan revealed in an interview that he and Doherty had done a naked photoshoot together for Mario Testino (it was always going to be unlikely that they spent their weekends arguing about the washing-up and playing Halo). Fortunately for, well, everyone really, the pictures were never published.
Although the former child star and ex-Libertines frontman might seem an unlikely hook-up, they are far from history’s strangest flatmates. Al Gore and actor Tommy Lee Jones roomed together at university and remain close; director Kathryn Bigelow and composer Philip Glass co-habited New York lofts while they renovated them; and Michael Douglas and Danny DeVito apartment-shared when they were starting out as actors.
As for Doherty and Culkin, a source stated that the pair “bonded over their love of poetry and art. Macaulay can’t get enough of listening to Pete waxing lyrical about his painting and music”. But as one Twitter commenter (Matt Leys) pointed out, while the gruesome twosome no doubt have delusions of hedonistic poet roomies Verlaine and Rimbaud in their heads, a more fitting comparison might be that of Richie and Eddie in Bottom.
