Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki might be in for a long engagement with her fiancé golfing pro Rory McIlroy, but she’ll never get tired of flashing her impressive diamond rock.
The Danish sport star (23) wore her engagement ring from McIlroy as she spoke to the media during the Sydney International tennis tournament, gesturing with her left hand as photographers struggled to get the perfect shot of the diamond.
Reported to be worth more than €150,000 and at least five carats, the halo-style ring features a centre diamond which is surrounded by smaller diamonds.
Rory (24) popped the question to his girlfriend of nearly two and a half years on New Year’s Eve to the backdrop of fireworks over Sydney Harbour Bridge.
It wasn’t long before the pair took to social media network Twitter to tell their millions of followers they were set to tie the knot.
Rory shared a snap of the smiling couple, paired with shots of the ring and the New Year’s Eve fireworks in Australia.
Announcing the engagement, the Northern Irish golfer and current world number six told his followers : "Happy New Year everyone! I have a feeling it's going to be a great year!! My first victory of 2014 #shesaidyes!!"
Wozniacki tweeted the same photos with the caption, “Rory and I started 2014 with a bang! I said YES!”
With busy schedules for the year ahead, there has been no mention of a wedding date yet.
A source close to the couple told the Irish Independent recently that McIlroy "has a very busy schedule for springtime", and that he was due back on the course in Abu Dhabi in mid-January, making a 2014 wedding seem unlikely.
