LIAM Neeson’s agent has strongly denied that the star was drunk when he appeared on the 50th anniversary special of The Late Late Show.
The Ballymena actor’s appearance was one of the talking points of the show as he looked droopy eyed and had slurred speech.
However, his agent has said emphatically that the Taken star was not drunk and he has no idea why people would think that.
Alan Nierob told The Irish Mirror: “It is obvious to anyone who actually saw the interview he was not intoxicated.
“I saw the interview and I thought it was terrific.”
During the interview, Neeson revealed he had a received a ’snivelling’ letter from Taoiseach Enda Kenny asking him to be part of a campaign to encourage people to visit Ireland.
He also blurted out that Bono the ‘surprise’ guest of the show was backstage, and wound up the interview by saying to to Tubridy: ‘Thanks Brian.’
However according to Nierob: “He had arrived from the US, did a couple of hours of press for War of the Worlds and then did a meeting with Unicef before the Late Late Show taping. Frankly he gave a great interview I thought.”
Neeson’s behaviour during the interview became a talking point on Twitter , with ‘Schindler’s Pissed’ and ‘Taken 2 Many’ being retweeted.
Liam Neeson who is dad to two teenage boys turns 60 years old today.
Meanwhile in figures released yesterday by RTE, it was revealed that the 50th anniversary special was the most watched TV show on RTE so far this year.
