RECENTLY single Justin Bieber had a new woman on his arm at a major awards bash last night – his mother.
Bieber, who won a total of three awards at last nights ceremony, pulled mum Patty onstage to help him accept the award.
“This is my mom. She's little, but she's beautiful,” said Bieber as he thanked his mum for believing in him.
The tender moment melted hearts as the young singer showed his appreciation to his mum who gave birth to the superstar at the age of 19 and was living in a hostel as she struggled to make ends meet.
The singer has his mum to thank for where he is today after she uploaded videos of him on You Tube that went viral and led to him being spotted and then signed by American superstar Usher.
Bieber, who also won favourite pop/rock album, vowed that he will enjoy a long career in the pop industry as he accepted the very first award of the night – favourite pop/rock male artist.
“I want to say this is for all the haters who thought that I was just here for one or two years. I feel like I'm going to be here for a very long time,” he said.
While the tween star proudly showed off his mum, one older woman who certainly did not impress Bieber was model and former play boy bunny Jenny McCarthy.
Bieber, who usually laps up female attention, was seen pulling away as the blonde former girlfriend of actor Jim Carey playfully tried to kiss the young star.
It was an all-round successful night for Bieber, who put on a rousing solo performance and also wowed alongside rapper Nicki Minaj at the star-studded event, which was attended by a host of A-list celebrities.
Also at the awards were American singers Carly Rae Jepsen and Taylor Swift, who won her fifth consecutive award for Favourite Country Female Artist.
The show was opened by Bieber's mentor and pop star Usher, who was dressed in leather trousers.
There was Irish representation at the 40th anniversary of the annual event as Dubliner Siva Kaneswaran put in an impressive performance with his band The Wanted.
The Wanted proved they are more than capable of giving boy band rivals One Direction a run for their money as they took to the stage to perform their latest hit, I Found You, at the annual music event in Los Angeles.
Leading a bevy of beautiful ladies was supermodel Heidi Klum in a short gold embellished dress, while singers Pink, Christina Aguilera, Jordin Sparks and Gwen Stefani, with her band No Doubt in tow, also graced the red carpet at the awards.
