The former Two And A Half Men star was reported to have given the actress thousands of pounds towards her tax bill after they got friendly on the set of Scary Movie 5.
Charlie has now confirmed to ET that he did give the troubled starlet an unspecified amount of money, saying he wanted to "pay it forward" because she had been "shorted" on a previous project.
He laughed: "I'm still waiting for a text to say 'thank you'. Anything, you know?"
However, the Anger Management star, who has also been at the centre of his fair share of controversies, had some kind things to say about Li-Lo, who has been through a well-documented string of personal and legal problems.
"She just needs a little bit of time...," he said. "People need to give her time to get her s*** together."
As well as bailing out starlets, Charlie recently donated 75,000 dollars to help a 10-year-old girl beat cancer.
His spokesman told E! News the gift "is one of many charitable donations that Charlie frequently makes".
