IT HAS been the best-kept secret for the past six months, but Grainne Seoige is engaged to be married to her South African boyfriend Leon Jordaan.

The telly beauty said "yes" as far back as November, but kept the news to family and a few close friends.

Grainne told the Sunday Independent: "We wanted time to enjoy it ourselves. When it is out there, it takes on a life of its own."

The gorgeous Gaeilgeoir and the Durban-born rugby coach-turned businessman have been dating since October 2011.

They plan to marry later this year or early in 2015 in either Ireland or South Africa.

The happy couple threw a surprise party last night for 150 friends in Lillie's Bordello, though the subtle theme of the night – 'Ask Us No Questions And We'll Tell You No Lies' – may have given the game away.

Grainne said the party was to "thank so many friends for keeping the secret".

The bride-to-be revealed Leo flew halfway around the world to South Africa to pick out her engagement ring.

But Grainne insisted: "The ring wasn't the focus – the focus was that we are going to spend the rest of our lives together."

The Galway girl's future husband has lived in Ireland for the past 10 years and, according to Grainne, "understands a west of Ireland girl like me".

"He understands what makes me tick. He gets me. What I love about him is his sense of kindness and fun. He also has a strong sense of what's fair and what's right. And we're obviously incredibly happy together."
