FORMER model Ruth O'Neill (pictured) has landed her "dream job" working for glitzy US channel E! Entertainment in Los Angeles.
The 25-year-old, a US contributor for the Irish Independent, admits it has been "tough" since she left a burgeoning modelling career in Dublin three years ago to attempt to make it in the television industry in California.
"A lot of people leave here after about six months – because people want things instantly as they think they are entitled to it.
"You have to work hard and be passionate about it," she says.
Ms O'Neill got a phone call last week to tell her she had landed the position after first interviewing in November for the job on the news show on E! Entertainment, which is home to the hit reality show 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'.
"E! was No 1 on my list – it is my absolute dream company," she says.
Ms O'Neill, who has an American passport after being born in New York but raised in Dublin, says she will be based on the assignment desk working on collecting the stories that go out on air every day.
"I won't be on camera at the start, I think it takes a while before you can earn that," she says.
