THERE is no truth in the rumour that Royston Brady is going to start putting up posters of himself to celebrate the good news. Or that Bertie is dumping Mary Wallace to give Royston the junior minister's post. But Royston is going to have his own junior minister of sorts.
His beautiful wife Michelle McConalogue is expecting their first child in August.
"I've always said how your priorities can change very quickly in life," he told me. "Politics certainly won't be my first priority with a baby on the way." Royston married Michelle, who hails from Carndonagh, County Donegal, in December 2003.
With the groom as Lord Mayor at the time, they had the reception, unsurprisingly, in the Mansion House. Surprisingly, perhaps, Bertie Ahern turned up at the reception with his then ex-girlfriend Celia Larkin and, according to one reveller, they smooched away on the dancefloor.
A Brady Bunch imminent, Royston possibly doesn't have time for the dancefloor himself. He is too busy organising the room in their home in Malahide for the baby and a holiday in Italy for him and Michelle. He is also about to launch a new business. "Politics is on the back burner at the moment," he said. "Let's just say it is in the tourism sector."
I don't care as long as it doesn't involve posters, Royston.
