Robbie Williams has confessed he can't fly on an aeroplane without his pet dogs there to hold his hand.

The Candy singer has seven pooches and brought two of them with him on his latest trip from Los Angeles to the UK. Robbie apparently told The Daily Star he has a letter from a psychologist saying he needs to have his dogs sitting next to him.

He said: "I brought two of them over this time as I don't want to put them in the cargo hold. One of them is Sid, my husky, but he's more of a wolf really.

"We sit them next to us on the plane. But you have got to go to a shrink and say you need them for mental support, so I got a letter.

"Listen, I am not lying, I do need them for mental support!"

The singer - who recently welcomed five-month-old daughter Theodora with wife Ayda - is moving to London and brought the rest of his dogs over by cruise liner because he didn't want them to travel in the plane cargo hold.

He revealed he had to persuade his wife to let him keep the pets.

He added: "Ayda was bitten by a dog as a kid but I told her not to worry, my dogs are amazing. A few of them look ferocious but they're actually really calm. They have never bitten anyone."
