Rugby star Rob Kearney and his girlfriend Susie Amy have split after three years.
In the week the full-back was voted the hottest man in Ireland, he is back on the market after the end of his three-year relationship with the Footballers' Wives star.
“Location, location, location” is what one source blamed for their break-up.
“Rob is based in Ireland and Susie is in the UK. It's that simple and that wasn't going to change anytime soon,” said the insider.
In an interview in 2010 Susie had said: “It's difficult us not living in the same place, but we've made it work, even though it's not ideal. We see each other quite a lot.”
One of the most high-profile couples associated with the Irish rugby team, the split has come as a huge shock to their friends.
Many thought that Rob and Susie would be hosting the next big rugby wedding as they seemed to be so much in love.
There was talk that they might settle down together in Ireland.
Susie, who played the notorious Chardonnay Lane-Pascoe in Footballers' Wives, had spoken publicly of her love for the Cooley Peninsula in Co Louth after visiting Rob's home in Carlingford.
But it was not to be.
The two have always lived in different countries so it was incredible that they ever got together in the first place.
Cupid’s arrow came in the form of a mutual friend, English rugby player Ugo Monye, whom Rob met while playing with the Lions in South Africa in 2009.
Susie revealed in an interview: “Ugo called me from South Africa and said: ‘I've got the perfect guy for you, he's from Ireland'. I thought, ‘that's a bit far, is there no one more local?'
“Then I was watching a match with friends and when Ugo scored a try, the number 15 hugged him and I was like: ‘He's hot, is that the guy?' So we got in touch.”
Together since November 2009, they were spotted on each other's arm at the opening of We Will Rock You at the O2 in Dublin |in January 2010.
Now it seems both parties are looking to the future with Susie (31) tweeting last Tuesday night: “Be happy now. Don't ‘plan' to be happy in five years when bills are paid and marriages are made. #dontsweat thesmall stuff.”
