She lives for her four children so it's no wonder RTE star Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh was delighted to welcome another addition to her family.
The flame-haired host said her family were overjoyed to add a labrador pup to their brood -- even if it took her some time to master the art of going to the bathroom outside.
Blathnaid describes her new dog as the personal highlight of 2013.
"We got a new dog and her name is Poitín," the presenter told the Herald.
Like any baby, the early stages of Poitín's arrival were not easy, but the passionate Gaelgoir says her clan are smitten.
"Yes it was difficult and she loses her hair everywhere, that's how it goes."
WITH LABRADORS KNOWN FOR THEIR QUICK GROWTH RATE, POITíN WON'T STAY AS A CUTE PUP FOR LONG, BUT BLATHNAID HAS PLENTY OF VOLUNTEERS AT HOME TO TAKE THE DOG OUT FOR A WALK.
The presenter has four children -- Sile (17) Peadar (13) Comhghal (11) and Darach (10) -- with her husband of 18 years, music producer Ciaran Byrne.
Blathnaid (43), said recently that she is still broody for more children, but it seems like Poitín will keep her hands full for the time being.
The former face of RTE afternoon TV is looking forward to a quiet Christmas after a busy year for the Meath presenter who fronted a series of TV shows for the Montrose broadcaster.
