BROADCASTER Claire Byrne is engaged to her boyfriend of one year, Gerry Scollan.
Last year, she said she would not rule out walking down the aisle for a second time – and it seems it may come true sooner than expected for the RTE host.
The former 'Daily Show' presenter decided to quietly announce the news that she and Mr Scollan are to be married to her 'Prime Time' colleagues last night before going on air.
Laois-born Ms Byrne was seen in studio wearing an engagement ring as she hosted the weeknight current affairs programme.
A spokeswoman for the television star confirmed the engagement, but said that Ms Byrne did not reveal when IT technician Mr Scollan proposed.
The pair have been dating since last year and made their first public appearance at the VIP Style Awards in March 2012.
She recently told the 'RTE Guide' that she had found love again, after a rather public marriage break-up from her radio executive husband Richard Johnson in 2006.
Speaking of her new relationship with Mr Scollan, the 36-year-old said: "It's all going well and I am really happy, you know it's been one of the best years I think I've ever had."
The couple jetted to London for a romantic break before Christmas, following a busy year for Ms Byrne at the national broadcaster.
