PATRICK Kielty admitted he wanted to make 2012 the year he got married - and it seems he's on track to keep to his new year's resolution as he and TV presenter Cat Deeley have taken their relationship to the next level.
The comedian revealed in an interview last year that he wanted to bring his dating days to an end and settle down. “I think that might be my new year’s resolution – to get married,” he said.
The couple, who it is rumoured began dating last autumn have got serious fast, having just returned from a holiday in Mexico. Cat spent some time in November in Northern Ireland with the County Down man. He brought her to Murlough Beach, described as one of Northern Ireland's most romantic places.
Then last week Kielty and Cat, now dubbed PatCat, returned from a winter sun break in celeb haunt Cabo San Lucas a favourite with Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston and stayed at the five-star Las Ventanas beach resort, where one night costs $1,000.
One friend has revealed to a UK magazine that Cat has always had a thing for funnyman Kielty, who it seems has a thing for TV presenters. The Couty Down man has in the past dated Amanda Byram and Fearne Cotton. He has also been linked to socialite Jemima Khan, actress Sienna Miller and Swiss supermodel Alizee Gaillard.
However, it seems that Kielty who is 42 this year, may be ready to settle down, and it seems that Cat feels the same way about the comedian.
"It's no secret among Cat's close friends that she has always held a torch for Patrick , but it has never been the right time for either one," the pal told Grazia magazine.
The pair first met over ten years ago when they hosted Fame Academy in the UK and have kept in touch with each other since, with Deeley travelling to Belfast in 2005 to appear on the Kielty chatshow for the BBC. However Kielty was in a long term relationship at the time with Byram, and Deeley was involved in a series of long term relationships.
When her career took off and she moved to LA where she landed the plum presenting role on So You Think You Can Dance, she became a household name in the States.
At the time Kielty quipped: “Cat’s turned her back on us. Good luck to her and her capitalism.”
"Patrick makes her feel special and everyone is happy to see her with a man who truly appreciates her," a pal said.
