The 19-year-old One Direction star from Mullingar, failed to make Heat magazine’s annual poll of 100 sexiest men on the planet, despite his bandmates Harry Styles (4) Louis Tomlinson (14) and Zayn Malik (8) all coming in the top 20.
Another boyband member who polled high is Nicky Byrne, the former Westlife star, who leaped from number 71 to number 15 this year, following his appearance on 'Strictly Come Dancing' on the BBC last year.
According to Heat: “When a man can make a green Jim Carrey face look sexy as he did on Strictly, you know he’s pretty special.”
Also representing Ireland on the list is ‘Love/Hate’ star Robert Sheehan, a new entry at number 57.
The actor is known in the UK for his role in Channel 4’s ‘Misfits’, but it’s his big eyebrows and Irish brogue that caught the attention of voters, according to the magazine.
Roscommon native Chris O’Dowd made it onto the list for the first time at number 75, and another new entry is ‘Downton Abbey’ star Allen Leech at number 91.
Another surprising new entry is 36-year-old Colin Farrell at 40, and Shame star Michael Fassbender still kept his place on the list, although he fell from 24th place in 2012 to 61 this year.
According to Heat: “If you’ve watched Shame then there’s not an inch of this man you haven’t seen. And that’s quite a few inches.”
The poll itself was won by British diving star Tom Daley, who knocked David Beckham from the top of an annual poll.
Bronze medallist Daley, was surprised he had reached the dizzying heights by topping the 101 Hottest Hunks Of 2013 list.
The star, famed for his toned torso and permatan, said: "I don't think of myself as a hunk. I just think of myself as a normal person who still goes to school, who still has to train 30 hours a week and who just gets on with life."
Perhaps to make the cut next year, Niall Horan should consider wearing Speedos more often.
