DOTING dad Nicky Byrne has brought his twin boys to meet their new little sister.
Dressed down in jeans and a black jacket, the Westlife singer turned out with six-year-old Rocco and Jay at Holles Street National Maternity Hospital yesterday to pay a visit to mother Georgina and baby Gia, who was born on Wednesday.
The happy family were joined by Miriam Ahern, who came bearing gifts for her new granddaughter.
"What I've noticed already is how much more gentle having a girl is, it's just different," Nicky (35) told Ryan Tubridy on 2FM.
"Every little touch of her hands and her foot, it's different to a boy. We're just delighted, it's a very special gift and we're absolutely buzzing at the moment."
He also said that he and Georgina had been preparing the boys for Gia's arrival.
"Slowly I had been prepping them. We didn't want to tell them too quickly and put them all out of sorts.
"But they've gradually come around to the idea, and because it's a girl they now know that they don't need to share their toys and they're very happy with that.
"And as older brothers, I've been secretly saying, 'you're going to have to look after her and protect her' – giving them a little bit of responsibility. But they're loving it."
Georgina, who is the daughter of former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, is expected to spend "two or three days" in hospital before returning to the family's Malahide home.
"She's coming around, obviously she spent the night there," Nicky added. "The night went well and Gia took well to the feeding. So far, so good. There's no complaints."
