THE mystery brunette that attended the christening of Niall Horan’s nephew is a relative of the family, the famous singer’s mother has confirmed.
The One Direction star jetted back to Ireland last Friday, to attend the baptism of godson Theo, the baby of his brother Greg and wife Denise.
There was speculation that a young woman who arrived for the ceremony on Saturday was the 20-year-old’s new girlfriend, after she reportedly told locals in Mullingar she is from the UK.
Wearing a red dress, she was pictured walking out the back door of St Michael's Church in Castletown Geoghegan, Co Westmeath, moments before Horan and was also spotted at his home yesterday.
However, Horan’s mother, Maura Gallagher, told the Irish Independent that the entire family was “stunned” when it was suggested her son and his cousin were romantically linked.
“She’s a cousin from Luton who came over with her parents to be at the christening,” Ms Gallagher said.
“She was absolutely terrified when there were pictures taken of her and Niall was disgusted.”
It was first weekend Horan, who is godfather to baby Theo, managed to get back to his native in several months.
Last week he and band mates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne returned to the UK following a gruelling world tour.
Horan appealed to his followers to “respect” his privacy while home, but it did not stop them turning up at the church or outside his home as he went jogging yesterday afternoon.
He happily obliged waiting fans after returning from his run and posed for a number of photographs.
Some of the devoted fans had got their parents to drive them to Mullingar from Dublin in the hopes of catching a glimpse of him, including One Direction fan Rebecca Keenan, from Foxrock.
One Direction, who emerged on the 'X Factor' in 2010, have just completed their 131-date 'Take Me Home' world tour and will head out on the road again next year, with stopovers in Columbia, Peru, Paraguay and Brazil.
They will also put on three dates in Ireland in May 2014.
