Ne-Yo: I'd be an honest TV judge
Ne-Yo has revealed that "passionate" and talented people would get his vote if he was a TV judge.
The 33-year-old music star, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, is rumoured to be in talks to appear on The X Factor USA as a judge, following the exits of LA Reid and Britney Spears from the show.
While he wouldn't confirm or deny the stories, the Let Me Love You singer said: "It's definitely something that I can see myself doing. I feel like I've been around long enough to give somebody on their way up some good information and some jewels of info, so I feel like I can do that."
Ne-Yo revealed he would be an "honest" judge and would pick people who are truly dedicated to music.
"The type of people I will be rooting for are the people who can sing because they don't have a choice - they have to sing. They don't sleep well at night without singing or writing a song or making music like me. I love the craft, I've loved music before I knew what it was," he said.
The singer-rapper added: "There are hundreds and thousands of talented people who will never get into the business because their passion isn't in the right place. They can sing really well, but they just want to sing to be famous and they want money."
In celebration of MasterCard's 15th year as partner of The Brit Awards, Ne-Yo is giving music fans the chance to join him on his forthcoming tour. Fans can enter at somethingforthefans.co.uk.
"They can experience the good, the bad and the ugly of what it's like to be me. They can see what I do up close," he said.
