'PRIME TIME' star Claire Byrne has given birth to her first child, a baby boy named Patrick.
The RTE broadcaster and her fiance, IT consultant Gerry Scollan, announced the birth yesterday and said the new addition to the family was "doing well".
It has been a busy few days for the National Maternity Hospital Holles Street when it comes to celebrity babies, with Patrick following hot on the heels of baby girl Gia, born to former Westlife singer Nicky Byrne's wife Georgina Ahern on Wednesday.
Claire is understood to have gone into labour overnight on Thursday and gave birth to little Patrick early yesterday.
Her agent, Noel Kelly, issued a statement on the couple's behalf, which read: "Claire Byrne and Gerry Scollan are delighted to announce the arrival of their new baby boy, Patrick Scollan. Mum, dad and baby are all doing well and would like to thank everyone for the good wishes."
Claire recently began maternity leave from RTE where she presents 'Morning Ireland', 'Prime Time' and her own eponymous show on Saturdays on Radio 1.
She had chosen not to learn the gender of the baby in advance and the broadcaster recently admitted to harbouring a suspicion that she was having a girl.
The 36-year-old Co Laois native has been dating Gerry since last year and news of their engagement only broke when she was spotted wearing a diamond ring while on air.
In May, it was revealed that the couple were expecting their first child together and they put their wedding plans on hold to concentrate on preparing to be parents.
