Movie king Hanks looking for a slice of castle luxury
Hollywood A-lister Tom Hanks is understood to be on the hunt for a property in Ireland currently under development in the grounds of a historic Irish castle.
Hanks, who experienced a meteoric rise to fame with such films as Forrest Gump and Philadelphia, is rumoured to be keenly eyeing up one of the multi-million euro residences on the historic grounds of the 12th century Kileen Castle in Co Meath.
The exclusive homes will be situated within private woodlands on the spectacular 600 acre estate and developers have employed state of the art facilities to ensure the dwellings are nothing less than fit for a king.
As rumours circled among locals this weekend about the possibility of Hollywood royalty living among them, a spokesperson for Kileen Castle added to the mounting speculation saying, "We can neither confirm nor deny that Tom Hanks is interested in one of the properties."
Wealthy homeowners who are lucky enough to secure one of the choice properties next to the superstar, a number of which are reported to cost an estimated €9 million, will have their every need catered for by a 24-hour concierge service.
Future-proof infrastructure will also afford full communications, security and entertainment access for all residents so that Mr Hanks and his neighbours can organise everything online, from ordering a movie to booking a teeing off time or a special spa treatment. The award winning actor and golf enthusiast can also look forward to one of Europe's top golf courses -- the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, which will be situated right on his doorstep.
And with each site sitting on at least one acre of secluded and secure landscape, the movie star can enjoy a vast wealth of wildlife, flora and fauna in an idyllic rural setting without worrying about intrusion from pesky paparazzi.
Well-informed sources say the world-famous double- Oscar winning actor is extremely enthusiastic about the new development which will afford him the privacy to relax and enjoy a range of recreational facilities on site.
Tennis, archery, fishing and equestrian pursuits are all available on the castle grounds, while the exquisitely restored walled gardens and well-stocked lakes will offer a haven of peace and tranquillity should the star wish to escape to a slower pace of life.
Castlethorn Construction, one of the country's leading homebuilders and developers of the Dundrum Town Centre, are behind the project, said to be worth in excess of €200 million.
Hanks is said to have fallen in love with Ireland while filming the widely acclaimed Saving Private Ryan on Ballinesker beach in Co. Wexford during the summer of 1997, uring which time he stayed with the movie's director, Steven Spielberg, at Marlfield House in Gorey.
The exclusive housing development at Kileen Castle is expected to be launched before the end of the month.
