Taking to the stage, the star played MC for the glitzy "Crystal Ball" in the Burlington Hotel which she attended with her daughter Clara (16).

She was flanked by a host of celebrity guests who came to show their support for the charity which grants the wishes of children living with a life-threatening illness.

Former Miss Ireland Rosanna Davidson and her boyfriend Wes Quirke were joined by top DJ Gareth O'Callaghan and model Laura Bermingham, who are ambassadors for the charity.

The event on Saturday also featured young actor Devon Murray, who plays cheeky Seamus Finnigan in the successful 'Harry Potter ' films.

The guests also enjoyed a four-course dinner and champagne reception in the hotel, which had been decorated with stars and crystals for the night.

Last night a spokesperson for the organisation said the event had done "exceptionally well" in raising money.

Since its inception in 1992, the charity has granted wishes for over 450 special children with serious illnesses.
