McDormand, Jenkins for Olive show
Frances McDormand and Richard Jenkins are set to play husband and wife in new TV series Olive Kitteridge.
The 55-year-old actress is to play the titular character, a retired schoolteacher, while Richard would be her spouse in the small-screen adaptation of Elizabeth Strout's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, reported Deadline.
Lisa Cholodenko, the director of The Kids Are All Right, is in talks to take the reins of the HBO mini-series, which Frances has apparently been developing for a few years.
The story focuses on Olive and the characters that surround her in the small Maine town, as she tells tales of affairs, suicide and emotional problems.
Frances, who is married to film-maker Joel Coen, was previously seen in Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom and Gus Van Sant's drama Promised Land.
