HE missed out on the Sam Maguire Cup this year but Mayo captain Andy Moran bagged the top prize when he wed his girlfriend.
Moran married Jennifer Drake in their home town of Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon.
The couple exchanged vows at Ballaghaderreen Cathedral at noon before enjoying a black-tie reception with their 300 guests at Kilronan Castle.
Moran described it as "a great day".
And he had a word of encouragement for Mayo fans for the coming year.
"It was disappointing not to win Sam but we'll be back next year," he vowed.
A number of Mayo GAA stars attended the wedding including Barry Moran, Aidan O'Shea and Alan Dillon. Mayo manager James Horan and former boss and TD John O'Mahony were also in attendance.
Groomsman Stephen Drake is the bride's brother and Ballaghaderreen club captain. Ms Drake was accompanied by two bridesmaids, Catheriona Golden and Amanda Cunniffe.
Meanwhile, Dublin football captain Bryan Cullen will tie the knot with his stunning sprinter Ailis McSweeney this afternoon in Ailis's home village of Carrigtwohill in East Cork.
Bryan will be joined by his Dublin teammates as they celebrate the big day.
Ailis, a qualified solicitor, holds the female Irish record for 100m and is currently in training for the European Championships in March.
Ailis has been with the Dublin captain for eight years.
