Lindsay Lohan plans 'sober' New Year's Eve in London

Lindsay Lohan arrives at a party to celebrate Lifetime's 'Liz & Dick' at the Beverly Hills Hotel on November 20, 2012 in Beverly Hills.

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly telling friends she will have a quiet New Year's Eve in London without a drop of alcohol.

The 26-year-old Mean Girls star is facing up to 245 days in jail for violating her probation stemming from an earlier necklace theft case.

According to TMZ, she is desperate to make a good impression on the judge who will decide her fate and is starting with abstaining from alcohol on the biggest party night of the year.

The website reports Lindsay is planning to have a small dinner in London where she is visiting before joining family and friends at her hotel to watch the ball drop.

Lindsay has yet to confirm her plans for the evening. She has celebrated New Year’s with blowout bashes in St Barts and Italy in the past.

Her probation violation case isn't her only legal woe, however. The actress is also facing assault charges after allegedly punching a woman in a New York City nightclub in November.

The star has also famously battled with her sobriety.

Her father, Michael Lohan, tried and failed to stage an intervention at her Beverly Hills home in October.

He said earlier this month he still believes Lindsay needs to extricate herself from the bad people surrounding her and submit to rehab for the fifth time.

"If people would stop taking her money she wouldn't have an issue," Michael told Radar Online.

"Regardless, the cost of rehab has been taken care of IF she wants or agrees to go in! I believe she wants it, now the ball is in her court!" he continued.

Michael promised to arrange for a rehab programme he approves for Lindsay, if she commits to six months or more of treatment.
