PIERCE Brosnan showed he hasn’t forgotten his roots when he showed off his ‘PB EIRE’ personalised plates on his Range Rover in Santa Monica.
The former James Bond star was out for a lunch date with his wife Keeley Shaye Smith, when he was snapped getting out of his people carrier bearing the very distinctive plates.
The actor, who was born in Navan Co Meath, is very proud of his Irish roots and regularly returns home.
Brosnan and his mother left Navan in 1964 to move to London, but the actor still considers Ireland his 'natural home'.
"In a way my life all leads back to a little boy in Navan, my home town on the banks of the Boyne," he told one reporter.
"It was a fantastic way to be brought up. The Catholicism and the Christian brothers, those are deep-rooted images, and the foundation for a person of some acting skill,” he said.
He now lives in LA with Shaye-Smith, and their two sons Dylan (16) and 12-year-old Paris.
The 60-year-old former James Bond star lost his daughter Charlotte (42) in July this year to ovarian cancer, the same disease that claimed her mother Cassandra, Brosnan’s first wife in 1991.
He and Shaye Smith, who divide their time between homes in Hawaii and Malibu, are regular visitors to Ireland.
Brosnan recently fronted a campaign here for Sky TV which was filmed in various locations around the country.
