Lady Herbert parks her assets on a trapeze in Naas
JUST because we posh folk speak differently and enjoy the finer things in life doesn't mean that we don't also enjoy a spot of swinging in VIP lounges around the world.
Take the case of Lady Emma Herbert, niece of Camilla Parker-Bowles and daughter of the Earl of Pembroke. Emma was a bridesmaid at Camilla's wedding, a very young one apparently, because she's only 34 now.
Emma is currently employed swinging through the air as a trapeze artist at Time, the super-club in Naas, Co Kildare.
Well, if you're thinking that this is no job for a lady, think again. Sporting a Mohican hairdo, Lady Emma is the star attraction. "It's very funny to see people's reactions when they hear that she is related to Camilla Parker-Bowles," says Gail Kaneswaren, who does marketing at the club. Can't argue with that, can you?
The club, which opened last year, attracted Emma because of its attitude, apparently. Maybe it's Naas's rolling acres she likes - she has, after all, divided her life between vast country estates and seriously posh parties. She has also worked as a trapeze artist in clubs such as Manumission in Ibiza, where she spends every summer. She loves the style of life in Ireland and is set on spending a lot more time here in 2004.
Here's betting that flying through the air with the greatest of ease will take off as a career option for well brought up young ladies in Ireland. GLM
