The biographical drama, which stars the Australian actress as Grace Kelly and Tim Roth as the Prince of Monaco, has been indefinitely postponed, with no release date for the near future, sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

The film had originally been set for a US release in November 2013, but the film studio pushed it back to March 2014, saying it wouldn't be ready in time.

French filmmaker Olivier Dahan hinted that he had been at odds with producer Harvey Weinstein over suggested changes to the biopic.

He told a French newspaper: "It's right to struggle, but when you confront an American distributor like Weinstein, not to name names, there is not much you can do. There are two versions of the film for now: mine and his... which I find catastrophic."

Insiders claim that Harvey gave Olivier notes, but that Harvey "has no creative control over the project and cannot make cuts to the film".

The film has come under criticism from the royal family. Prince Albert II, Princess Caroline and Princess Stephanie reportedly made "numerous requests for changes" to the script and claimed that "a series of scenes" in the flick were "purely fictional".

Parker Posey, Frank Langella and Derek Jacobi also star in Grace Of Monaco, which has a script written by Arash Amel.
