Katie's gold medal meal was a box of McNuggets
KATIE Taylor has revealed her celebratory meal on the night she won Olympic gold -- McDonald's chicken nuggets, writes John Spain.
In the book 'My Olympic Dream', Katie writes that after the medal ceremony and TV interviews she and her family went to The Irish House near King's Cross, the pub that was the meeting place for the Irish over for the Olympics.
After a couple of hours, though, they slipped away.
"We'd made no grand plans," Katie writes, "and before I knew it we were outside a McDonald's near Trafalgar Square.
"Just the four of us were there, Mam, Dad, my sister Sarah and me, and we ate a chicken nugget meal. "I was sat inside with my medal shoved into my tracksuit pocket. For me it was a perfect end to a perfect day."
Katie is doing her first public signing of the new book at a ticket-only event in The Royal Hotel in Bray today, at 11am.
The €4.99 ticket cost will be taken off the €19.99 book price. There will be another signing at Eason in O'Connell Street, Dublin, tomorrow at 1.30pm.
