YOU would never expect Katie Taylor to let her guard down when it comes to over-indulging, but the notoriously dedicated gold medallist will put that on hold for a three-day splurge this Christmas.
Last year, Katie cancelled Christmas as she embarked on the brutal training regime which ended in glory during the summer. This time, she will make up for lost time.
The 26-year-old told the Irish Independent that she'll be "making the most" of the festive holiday.
"Last year I just trained the whole way through it, with the Olympics being the year ahead. So I'm going to make the most of it, eat all around me and have a nice time with the family," she said.
Meanwhile, bookies have shut down betting on Taylor being crowned RTE's Sportsperson of the Year as she is a shoe-in for the gong.
Paddy Power Bookmakers has placed odds of 1/500 on her, making her the hot favourite to pick up the title. But she has some stiff competition in the form of world number one golfer Rory McIlroy who would be expected to walk away with the title any other year.
