Kathryn Thomas has revealed that her new boyfriend is restaurateur Padraig McLoughlin.

The TV presenter (34) brought Padraig (42) to the media-filled People of the Year Awards at the weekend.

The couple, who were introduced by friends and who have been dating several months, shared a cab to the CityWest Hotel, but entered separately.

Kathryn looked glamourous in a halter neck gown by Irish designer Marion Murphy Cooney as she walked down the red carpet on her own.

Inside, however, the pair were seen having a glass of prosecco and talking to host Grainne Seoige's parents.

Onlookers said the couple looked smitten, but Kathryn was more cautious.

"It's early days, but it's all going great, she said. "I'm having fun again. I will wait before I start shouting from the rooftops, like any sensible woman would do."

The Carlow native said that with the The Voice and Operation Trans-formation about to go into production, she was hitting her busiest time of the year. But she is having a last-minute break first.

"I have two weeks off and am planning a holiday," she said. "I don't know whether to go to the Greek islands or the States.

"It depends on what sort of timeline I have.

"Obviously, my sister is over in Los Angeles and she should take precedence.

"But I was just over there, so I'll either take a trip to see her or go island-hopping in Greece.

"It'll be very last minute though. I'm the sort of person who just goes to the airport and says 'that flight!'"

Kathryn, who split from her partner of five years, Garda Enda Waters, last year, previously revealed she found it hard getting used to single life.

She said: "When you spend years with somebody, it's an adjustment. Nobody wants to be single at 34."
