Julia Roberts penned late sister 'heartfelt letters'
Oscar nominee Julia Roberts apparently wrote her half-sister "heartfelt letters".
The Pretty Woman star's half-sibling Nancy Motes tragically passed away aged 37 earlier this month after what was reported to be a drug overdose.
Nancy was thought to have been struggling with drug addiction and reports state she left a suicide note that accused Julia, 46, of neglecting her.
However, insiders are now saying the actress did everything she could to help Nancy.
"Julia is not the evil person Nancy made her out to be," a source told British magazine Closer.
"She fought tooth and nail to get her help. Julia would write Nancy long, heartfelt letters saying she loved her and asking her to start therapy. She even offered to pay for Nancy to go to a plush rehab last year. She's been knocked sideways by her death and is utterly devastated."
Nancy's friends have claimed that Julia and her mother Betty Lou didn't pay her the attention she needed.
There has even been speculation that Nancy's alleged suicide was planned to coincide with the Oscars season, with Julia up for a supporting Academy Award for her role in August: Osage County.
Conner Dilbeck, the brother of Nancy's fiancé John, hinted at the rumours in an interview.
“We are talking about people who are powerful. People who have very delicate power, people who are in the limelight. Their power can be destroyed very easily if unfortunate things make them look more wicked," he said.
“They have to be careful; it can destroy their career or their Academy Awards.”
