Jennifer Aniston boycotts Instagram and selfies

Jennifer Aniston “doesn’t understand” selfies.

The 45-year-old actress spoke to Self magazine about her favourite things and was asked to choose between giving up Instagram or giving up Mexican food.

But Jen said it was a no-brainer. The actress doesn’t have an Instagram account and she doesn’t plan on getting one anytime soon.

“I'd definitely give up Mexican food for a year. I don't have Instagram. And I'm not a fan of selfies. I don't understand them. I feel like there's enough out there, why add to it?” she asked.

The former Friends star’s confession came just days after Ellen DeGeneres and several stars at last weekend’s Academy Awards shut down Twitter after snapping a selfie. The image became the most re-tweeted of all time, with more than one million in an hour.

It seems Jen wouldn’t have jumped in for the photo, however, although she’s not entirely put off by tech trends.

The actress does admit she’s a sucker for certain YouTube videos.

“There are so many ways [to make me smile]. Show me puppy videos. Cute puppy videos," she admitted.

She even suggested having an entire TV network of cute animals.

Asked what she would programme, the star said: “Good news! Just positive stories. Heroic stories. Cute puppy dogs doin' stuff. Great television shows. I'd bring back all the great television shows from the 70's. Put Taxi back on the air. Things to make you smile.”

The actress just wishes there were more positive influences in the world. If she were allowed to enforce her rules, she said: “I would command everyone to do so many things!” she said. “Be kind. Oh, I would command everyone to stop buying tabloids! I would command everyone to stop violence.”
