IRISH actress Katie McGrath has landed a leading role in upcoming US series 'Dracula' opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
It is the first time that McGrath, of 'Merlin' fame, will team up with Rhys Meyers since they co-starred in 'The Tudors' and signals a big career break for the Wicklow-born star in the American market.
The 29-year-old will play the fictional character Lucy Westenra in the 10-part series for Sky Living, which will air in America on NBC later this year.
The TV series will focus on Dracula, who arrives in London disguised as an American businessman with the intent to modernise science in 1890s London.
In another positive note for the Irish acting industry, Michael Fassbender's new movie 'Frank' has provided 300 people with temporary jobs, and will generate in excess of €5m revenue.
The movie, co-starring American actress Maggie Gyllenhaal and Domhnall Gleeson, began shooting here last month.
Production for Hollywood veteran Gabriel Byrne's 'Quirke' is also ongoing in the capital this month and currently employs 1,076 people.
It has generated an overall €7.1m spend on Irish goods and services.
