ONE Direction star Liam Payne has tweeted his disgust after he was branded a homophobe – for saying he was a fan of a TV star.

Payne tweeted his support for Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson, who has become embroiled in controversy since homophobic slurs he made were exposed.

However the singer reacted angrily when it was suggested he was a homophobe.

“Being a fan of someones show and the way they still hold a family together doesnt mean i am ok with all they say.”

Clearly frustrated with his words being twisted, the star continued: “I can't do anything without being judged u try that and write about it”

He then tweeted a link to a story which suggested he was homophobic, saying “Look at this s**t I never said any if that write about something real for once there's plenty of issues In the world”

He explained to fans he was not targeting them with the tweets, and closed by saying: “Pick ur balls up off the floor and get on with it instead of taking advantage of every word said and twisting it for your own gain”
