A STAR of 'Dublin Wives' was hospitalised after an accident involving a bicycle rickshaw in Dublin.

Danielle Meagher suffered concussion and a fractured jaw when the vehicle toppled over, the impact resulting in one of her teeth being pushed through her chin.

The dentist (32) was operated on to move part of the tooth which had been imbedded in her cheek and required stitches.

She has now been left with panic attacks and tinnitus from the accident and needs a device in her ears in order to sleep.

Although the incident took place on October 6, the mother of one decided not to speak about it until a week-long run of 'Dublin Wives' had aired on TV3.

"I just wanted to get through Christmas. I didn't even tell some of my friends about what happened until recently," Dr Meagher told the Irish Independent.

The businesswoman, nicknamed 'Dr Botox', had been out for dinner with a friend and hailed the pedal rickshaw on South Anne Street.

"My car was parked up near Harcourt Street. I was a bit tired, so we decided to get a lift from a guy with a rickshaw. We paid him a tenner and set off.

"It was up at the Unitarian Church on St Stephen's Green that the accident happened. The rickshaw toppled over. I fell out and landed on my face.

"I remember being covered in blood and someone calling an ambulance."

Rushed from the scene to St James's Hospital, she was then transferred to the Mater, where she was treated for injuries requiring stitches and kept in overnight.

Such was the swelling that it was not until several weeks later that part of a tooth was removed from inside her mouth.

Ms Meagher said she took a week off work to recover and is still receiving treatment.
