"This is a dream,” he told reporters on the red carpet last night: “I feel like a father."
Simon has always been protective over One Direction and put together a management team to ensure they stay on track.
"No, we have the very best team imaginable for the boys," he said. "They are the most grounded artists I've ever worked with. They're really nice boys, so there are no tantrums. It's my job to make sure they are happy."
Simon is soon to become a real father, as it was recently revealed that he is expecting a child with American socialite Lauren Silverman.
Speaking at the world premiere of One Direction's film '1D: This Is Us', the X Factor boss has revealed his pride at becoming a first-time dad.
"I'm proud to be a Dad," he told BBC News. "The change in my life right now, it's for the better."
He walked the red carpet with his exes Mezhgan Hussainy and Sinitta, but Cowell famously said that he would never have children as he loves his current life too much.
Lauren was married to Simon's friend Andrew Silverman, a New York based real estate mogul, but their divorce was finalised last week.
According to insiders One Direction, which is comprised of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, were among the first people to congratulate Simon on his baby news.
