Anne Hathaway performed show tune-style renditions of rap hits on an American show

Anne Hathaway has swapped rousing ballads for rap when she appeared on a US chat show.

The Oscar-winning Les Miserables star, dressed in a one-shoulder black jumpsuit, dropped her rhymes with jazzy renditions of Snoop Dogg's Gin And Juice and 50 Cent's In Da Club on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, reported Us Weekly.

The 31-year-old also covered Kendrick Lamar's song, B****, Don't Kill My Vibe, as host Jimmy took on piano-playing duties and backing vocals.

During the song, Anne also made a tongue-in-cheek reference to the backlash she sparked after her acceptance speech for the best supporting actress gong at the 85th annual Academy Awards in 2013.

The actress was on the show to promote her new animated film Rio 2, in which she reprises her voice role as female Spix's macaw Jewel. She stars alongside Jesse Eisenberg, Jemaine Clement, Bruno Mars and in the animated sequel.
