CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star Elisabeth Harnois has said she would like William Petersen to reprise his role as Dr Gil Grissom on the show.
The 60-year-old actor, who remains as executive producer on the crime procedural series, left his role as the supervisor of the CSI team in 2009, although he made a guest appearance in one episode in 2011.
Elisabeth, who plays crime scene investigator Morgan Brody, hopes one day that she will get to share screen time with the TV star, saying: "I was a big fan (of the show). I watched more in the early seasons and I loved Billy Peterson.
"I keep wishing that he's going to come back and do just one episode. Morgan Brody has not got to meet the king of CSI, and he really is. He's the original lead of a show that broke ground for television. I mean, we're making history now. We're starting our 14th season now - it's amazing!"
She added: "So I would have loved to work with him and I still keep my fingers crossed that will happen."
Since William's exit, Laurence Fishburne and Ted Danson have stepped into his supervisor shoes.
"Grissom will always be the number one guy. But Laurence was his own version of the show and he brought a certain tone to the show," she said.
"Ted is an amazing dramatic actor. We have a very jokey and friendly relationship... and it allows us these moments of humour, whereas in past seasons, there wasn't maybe as much. When you're dealing with subjects of dark matter, you need moments of laughter and levity to balance it all out."
The 13th season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation continues on Tuesday nights on Channel 5.
