EXPECTANT mum Claire Byrne is getting pregnancy advice from an expert – her 'Prime Time' co-host and mother of eight, Miriam O'Callaghan.
The RTE presenter is expecting her first child in the autumn, and is already throwing herself into motherhood, researching prams, buggies and car seats.
Speaking at the opening night of 'Hairspray' the musical at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin, Claire said Miriam is offering her tips.
"I have loads of people to advise me. I've got five sisters, a mother who has a load of children and Miriam and lots of other colleagues. It's great," she said.
"So I am taking advice from friends because it's like buying a car, it is so complicated.
"I'm just beginning to learn a) how expensive it is, b) how complicated it is, and c) how much research you have to do."
Claire, who was joined last night by her fiance Gerry Scollan, said she was taking pregnancy in her stride. "I've been really lucky, I've been very well," she said. "I've been able to carry on working without any major incidents. It's been fine up to now.
"I'm just working on getting the pram, the buggy, and all that car seat stuff sorted out."
The mum-to-be is making the most of her summer break from 'Prime Time', but has not yet decided how long her maternity leave will be.
"I'll be back in September. Then I'll have to take some time off, but I'm not sure how much yet," she said.
