Clint Eastwood is being linked to the Jersey Boys film

Clint Eastwood could be headed to the director's chair for the Jersey Boys film, according to reports.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker is said to be "in talks" to take the reins of the big-screen adaptation of the hit musical, said The Hollywood Reporter.

Clint - who has directed 32 films including Million Dollar Baby, Invictus and Mystic River - has apparently set his sights on the musical movie after the casting delays surrounding A Star Is Born, which Beyonce was due to star in.

The 82-year-old is now expected to begin work on Jersey Boys first.

Iron Man director Jon Favreau had previously been linked to the director's job on the Tony-winning musical, which chronicles the rise of Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons, and their split.

Clint, who last directed J Edgar starring Leonardo DiCaprio, has won Oscars for his directing, for Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby.

The Jersey Boys film - which would feature songs such as Big Girls Don't Cry, Beggin' and December 1963 (Oh, What A Night) - would be the latest musical to hit the big screen, following the successes of Les Miserables, Rock Of Ages, Mamma Mia! and Chicago.
