Domhnall Gleeson makes Variety Magazine's 10 Hot Actors to Watch List

DOMHNALL Gleeson, the actor and son of Brendan Gleeson has made Variety magazine’s hot list of names to watch for the coming months.
The 29-year-old Dubliner, who is currently appearing in cinemas in the IRA thriller Shadow Dancer, was the only Irish actor to be named on the list. He has just wrapped filming the new Richard Curtis comedy (Four Weddings and a Funeral) ‘About Time’ with Rachel McAdams in London.
The eldest of Brendan Gleeson’s sons is also due to appear in two new movie releases in the autumn - Anna Karenina and the new Judge Dredd film.
Gleeson said of his role in Anna Karenina where he plays a young landowner who falls in love with the female lead: "I saw the film after we finished shooting in February and all I could think of was how proud I was to be involved."
He is also due to start filming with his dad and other Irish actors including Chris O'Dowd and Aidan Gillen and David Wilmot in John Michael McDonagh’s ‘Calvary’ in the coming weeks.
In 2006 he won a Tony award on Broadway for his role in Martin McDonagh's play ‘The Lieutenant of Inishmore’. He took a break at the time from his DIT where he was doing film studies to travel to America to appear in the play.
He has also appeared in the last two Harry Potter films, ‘Never Let Me Go’ as well as playing a young Bob Geldof in the BBC2 drama ‘When Harvey Met Bob’.
Variety magazine every year compile their 10 Actors to Watch list, picking out actors they believe will make their mark in the coming months.
Other actors named on the list this year include Britain’s Imogen Poots, who recently finished filming with Andrew 3000 the Jimi Hendrix biopic in Ireland.
Actors who made Variety’s list in recent years include watch list include Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), Emma Stone (The Help) and Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games).
Domhnall will be honoured by the magazine at a Film Festival in New York’s The Hamptons next month.
