Cowell's baby mama is "not a conniving gold digger"

The X Factor mogul reportedly feels like he's been "tricked".

The mother of Simon Cowell’s baby mama has spoken out and defended her daughter.

“My daughter is a wonderful girl and a wonderful mother,” Carole Eisenberg said of her daughter Lauren Silverman.

Eisenberg responded to rumours of the 36-year-old New York socialite being a “conniving gold digger”.

“People like to talk. That’s all I have to say,” she told the New York Daily News.

One friend told the newspaper Silverman had a “thing for rich, powerful men”.

“She knows having Simon’s baby will mean he will always be in her life and is a very wealthy and generous man,” the source said.

Silverman’s husband Andrew filed for divorce two weeks ago after Silverman told music mogul Cowell of her pregnancy.

It is being reported that the 53-year-old X Factor creator was “blind-sided” by Silverman’s news and feels like he was tricked.

“He assumed she was using birth control,” a source close to Cowell said Wednesday.

“Simon thought this was a casual relationship, friends with benefits. The pregnancy was not planned.”

“He is feeling tricked,” added the source.

“He didn’t have a clue before then and it has come as a complete surprise. Simon has repeatedly said he doesn’t want kids.”

Andrew and Lauren Silverman have a 7-year-old son together.
