The presenter has had a busy year professionally and said she can't wait to get away for a few days in London.

"I finish up on Saturday and I'm heading home to family (before going to London). I'm looking forward to a quiet Christmas before another busy year," she said.

Byrne will join Miriam O'Callaghan on the 'Prime Time' team in 2013.

"We're not starting until February so there's a bit of time to go."

She was among the celebrity guests at the Cheerios Christmas panto, which runs until January 13. The red carpet was rolled out as it kicked off its festive run to a packed house at the Tivoli theatre in Dublin, but not without a couple of hiccups.

It was a case of "the show must go on" as producers of 'Snow White and the Adventures of Sammy Sausages' were hit by a double whammy ahead of curtain call.

Hours before the premiere, writer Karl Broderick was told that a dancer had been rushed to hospital and that cast member, model Nadia Forde, had laryngitis.

He told the Irish Independent: "We were in rehearsals for two hours trying to re-choreograph one of the junior dancers to fill on the numbers."
