CHRIS Brown has said in a new interview that he has finally forgiven himself for assaulting girlfriend Rihanna.
He said during an interview yesterday on American chat show ‘Today’: “From me losing everything, to me having to regain public opinion or whatever it is - but most importantly, you know, knowing that what I did was totally wrong and having to kind of deal with myself and kind of forgive myself in the same breath and being able to apologise to, you know, Rihanna and be that man that can be who is a man, you know?”
Brown grabbed world headlines in 2009 after photos emerged of a bruised Rihanna taken after the incident.
The couple got into a heated argument on their way to that year’s Grammy Awards.
The singer also discussed the public’s reaction: “I think everybody is entitled to their opinion. For me, it's just a learning process.
"You know, I have to just take it one day at a time. I can't make everybody like me... it's about me being positive."
He also said that he has worked to regain Rihanna’s trust since the pair rekindled their romance late last year: “I think it's just me proving myself once again.
“Knowing that what I did was wrong, and never doing it again. So as far as me and her are concerned, she knows my heart, and I know her heart. So I'm not really focused on the negative.”
It is rumored the couple plan to release a duet about their troubled romance later this year.
