"We want, God willing, to start a family. So we decided to make 2014 the Year of the Baby," the 33-year-old told Glamour magazine.
Chelsea Clinton is already working it for her mother's 2016 campaign. Mission Number One was accomplished last week when the former/future first daughter delivered a fresh angle to the Clinton narrative by announcing that she and her "feminist" husband Marc Mezvinsky plan to have a baby next year.
"We want, God willing, to start a family. So we decided to make 2014 the Year of the Baby," the 33-year-old told Glamour magazine, adding: "Please, call my mother and tell her that. She asks us about it every single day."
Chelsea, the newly christened vice-chairwoman of the rebranded "Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation", also sounds hyper-organised on the career front – which is where the "feminist" husband thing comes in.
"I was working full-time and going to school at night and on the weekends. It was just crazy," she says of a stint she spent moonlighting for her public health degree at Columbia while holding down a Wall Street job.
"I was like, I don't want to be this person. I want to be a person who cares where she's investing her time and energy. And I want to be a good wife, daughter and friend."
Even though she "didn't fundamentally care about making money", Chelsea admits she had a hard time quitting her job at Avenue Capital Group. When she handed in her resignation, she says, her boss (unsurprisingly) asked her to stay. "I just said, 'Oh, I'll – totally. I'll stay' . . . I think a lot of women struggle with this. Marc came home and was like, 'So, did you quit'. I said, 'Well, I agreed to work part-time'. And he just said, 'What's wrong with you? If you were a man, you would have quit'. Marc is in so many ways a feminist," she adds. "I love that about him." Can't wait to see the GOP try to get their heads around that one.
PRAISE FOR 'UNCLE BILL' FROM BUSHES
Another former first daughter, Jenna Hager Bush, managed to crack up the high-powered crowd – including Jennifer Garner, Caroline Kennedy and Whoopi Goldberg – attending the Save the Children benefit last week when she introduced her "relative" Hillary Clinton who happens to be married to that much-loved adoptive Bush family member, "Uncle Bill".
In an effort to explain how warm relations are between her grandfather, her father and Bill Clinton, Jenna quoted her dad as referring to his Oval Office successor as "a brother from another mother".
MEET THE PARENTS &NDASH; NEW YORK STYLE
Downtown New Yorkers experienced an unexpected brush with royalty last week when "bestest" friends Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson blew into town to help settle daughter Eugenie into her new life in the Big Apple.
The popular 23-year-old party princess, who started work for the online auction house Paddle8 on Monday, bunked out of the Little Italy office early last Tuesday when she, along with a large pack of paparazzi, spent most of the afternoon watching her mother shop up a storm in Soho. That night, while Eugenie had dinner with her father in the trendy ABC Kitchen, Fergie was spotted swanning around Cipriani where she stopped to chat up George Clooney, who was at a table with billionaire Ron Burkle.
