Cate Blanchett has revealed her audition for Woody Allen's new film Blue Jasmine took less than two minutes.
The Oscar-winning actress joined co-stars Alec Baldwin and Peter Sarsgaard at the premiere of the film in New York wearing an unusual pink Balenciaga dress with feather detailing and matching cape.
Cate told Vanity Fair of her audition: "He called, and we spoke for about a minute and a half, and he said he had a script, and was I interested in reading it, and I said, 'Uh, yes I am.'
"And he sent it to me and said, 'Call me when you've read it.' And I called, and we spoke for another 45 seconds, where I said I'd love to do it, and he said, 'Great, I'll see you in San Francisco'."
Blue Jasmine stars Cate as a woman suffering from depression after being conned by her husband, played by Alec Baldwin, who goes to stay with her sister (Sally Hawkins) in San Francisco.
The 44-year-old actress admitted Woody likes to get everything done as quickly as possible.
Cate said: "Ninety-seven per cent of his direction is in the screenplay, and then he just wants to get out of the actors' way. But I love the dialogue with the director, so, you know, I'd ask him a question, and he'd answer it. He was pretty practical."
