FORMER TV3 news presenter Alan Cantwell said money had no part to play in his decision to quit the station – rather, he was unfilled by life there.
Cantwell, who left TV3 last month after working there since its launch 14 years ago, said: "Money was never ever an issue, it was never discussed. I made that abundantly clear when I approached them that it wasn't about money. It was about a personal choice that I had to make, and I had resolved to make that decision."
Speaking on Limerick's Live 95FM, he said: "Two years prior to leaving, I was toying with the idea of moving on. It is a monumental decision to make, as you're going from the well-paid job into the virtual unknown. You may be in a position where you are not earning for a considerable time. I felt I wanted to get something more out of life, out of what my abilities as a journalist or a broadcaster were."
